Preparing Google Spreadsheet

  1. Log into your NYU Google Account
  2. Go to http://timeline.knightlab.com
  3. Click “MAKE A TIMELINE”
  4. Click “Get the Spreadsheet Template”
  5. Click “Use this template”
  6. Spend some time entering text
    1. Date
    2. Headline
    3. Text
    4. Media – This needs to be a link to an image on the web, we will review how to get an image link
    5. Media caption
  7. Choose from the File menu “Publish to the Web”
  8. Go back to Timeline JS site and copy/paste spreadsheet URL at Step 3 of the instructions
  9. Grab the embed code that is produced under Step 4 of the instructions
  10. Copy <iframe> code

Embedding into Wordpress

  1. Create a new post
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the post editing page until you get to the “Fusion Page Options
  3. Click on the “Post” tab
  4. Paste your Timeline JS <iframe> code in the “Video Embed Code” field
  5. Click on the “Sidebars” tab
  6. Under “Select Sidebar 1:” change the value from “Default” to “No Sidebar
